Here are the main features and options for Imaging WorkShop.

Workflow Management
  Imaging WorkShop makes handling images simpler and the workflow more efficient.
Operations like browsing, selecting, editing, layout, and printing will be done within Imaging WorkShop without opening many windows.

Screen Layout
  In Imaging WorkShop, you do not have to open many windows or tools. The layout screen has only two windows, “Print Workflow” and “Image Workflow”. The workflow goes from left to right and all the necessary tools are placed on the screen.

<Print Workflow>
  [Print Workflow] view consists of three stages: the [Browse] stage, the [Layout] stage, and the [Print] stage, which progresses from left to right across the screen.

Browse the images and drag them onto the [Layout]. After creating the layout, go to the [Print] stage to make the settings, preview, and then print the images. Create and print 100-image or 10-page layouts easily.

With Imaging WorkShop, you do not need to go through complicated settings for the printer driver.

Each stage can be maximized and restored. To maximize or restore a stage, simply click the button in the upper left corner.

<Image Workflow>
  To adjust or edit images, use [Image Workflow] by double-clicking on an image in the [Browse] stage. [Image Workflow] provides view functions for enlarging and correcting images, and editing functions for [Color/Tone], [Crop], [Retouch], [Effects] and [Texts].

Click the tab to change functions. It is designed to work on one screen on any state. Also, you can edit multiple images.

Dedicated to Epson Printers
  Imaging WorkShop is designed exclusively with selected of Epson printers. The image processing function will maintain high quality for printing. Having full connectivity with a printer driver, there is no need to change the printer driver settings for layout or printing.

Imaging WorkShop requires a supported Epson printer. For a list of supported printers, please click here.

Professional Color Management
  Imaging WorkShop supports color management as a standard option.

Currently, most digital still cameras (DSC) produce good images, and the image files normally record the color space information required for color management.

However, because of improper application of printer settings, images can be distorted or the color/tone can be lost.

If you apply the proper color management, those troubles can be prevented and you will get quality images. With a clear index, you will not be misguided. Moreover, color management will be very useful for business use when you are using the multiple printers. With Imaging WorkShop, you can process images from import to print without paying much attention to color management.

<Advanced Color Management Settings>
  In Imaging WorkShop, basic color management is done in the standard settings. However, if you need further control, you can change the color space for imported images. Also, can change the color space for exported images.

<Printing Images with Color Management>
  Normally, to print the images with color management, using supported software, you need to set up an application and a printer driver separately. In Imaging WorkShop, all settings are linked with a printer driver. You only need to select the printer paper.

For professional users, Imaging WorkShop has capability to print images using custom ICC profiles.

<Monitor Color Management>
  Imaging WorkShop supports monitor color management. Calibrate your monitor so that you can use the images on the monitor as a reference for printing.

Note: Just as with other standard monitor color management systems, there will be differences between the color on the monitor and the color in the printed images. Also, depending on the characteristics of the monitor, printer, and the lighting, the results may not match your expectations perfectly. A standard calibration tool is required for monitor calibration.

Printing with Various Layout
  The [Layout] stage determines the arrangement of the images that are printed. Three layout patterns are available: [Template], [Index], and [Free]. You can choose a different layout for each page.

<Template >
  [Template] mode has more than 400 predefined templates. You can select one from the list to make a quick layout.

<Index >
  [Index] mode has the images arranged into a grid for browsing. Sometimes, It is useful to create a layout with 20 images into one page as 5 x 4, for example. By setting the numbers of the column and row, it creates the frame for a maximum 256 images (16 x 16) automatically. If necessary, the size of an each frame or the space between each frame can be set into details. Also, you can set the Exif information (date and time, shutter speed, etc.) for printing. It will be useful when you print the list of the many images.

<Free >
  Freely arrange the images into any size or position. You can simply drag the images or specify the size and position. The layout created by [Free] can be saved as a template for future use.

<Batch layout>
  Layout the many images easily. For example, select 200 images in [Browse] state and drag it into layout. When you select a layout for 20 images per page, Imaging WorkShop automatically add the pages and finish 10 pages layout at once. If you don’t want to have the same layout, you can select one by one by specifying the position and select unique layout. The maximum page for the layout is 100. You can create the different layout per page or switch the images freely. Also, you can save it first and print it later.

Support RAW Format
  Imaging WorkShop supports RAW format for major DSC models. The RAW format normally requires RAW exclusive software to develop images. Imaging WorkShop supports RAW format for most major single lens reflex camera models. Thus, from browsing the image to printing, you can process RAW images in the same way as a normal JPEG file.

<Color Adjustment by RAW Format>
  Imaging WorkShop requires no special operations for browsing or printing RAW format files. But if you need to adjust the images, you can set the [Exposure] and [White Balance] ([Color Temperature] and [Tone]). You can also set the [Color Mode] to adjust the color.

[Color Mode] has four modes: [Standard Look] for regular images, [Portrait Look] for portraits, [Landscape Look] for nature shots, and [Colorimetric] to ensure accurate color.

Each of them has a unique but delicate character. By using these modes, you can add a professional touch to your images.

<Batch Development>
  With Imaging WorkShop, you can use [Batch Development] to develop multiple RAW files, and save them as JPEG or TIFF files. [Batch Development] can process multiple images by using either the same settings or different settings. Also, this function can be used to adjust the color and tone for multiple non-RAW images.

<RAW Images Supported>
  For a list of cameras that support the RAW image format, please click here.

Note: Similar to standard RAW image development software, a RAW image file in Imaging WorkShop may look different from other DSC or the RAW image development software. It may also look different from JPEG images taken at the same time.

Hi-Quality Image Processing
  To maintain high quality in the original data, Imaging WorkShop uses the hi-quality image processing technologies such as RAW format, internal 16-bit processing, and nondestructive Image Processing.

<Internal 16-bit processing>
  By using internal 16-bit processing, Imaging WorkShop minimizes the differences for adjustments such as tone jump.

As a standard, 16-bit internal processing will be done at the time of importing RAW files or 16-bit image files. You can select this process for JPEG or 8-bit images as well.

The [Epson CMM] engine is applied for the color management and 3D color conversion processing for RAW image file development.

This technology allows imaging processing to be done without depending on the operating system. If necessary, you can use the CMM engine of the operating system.

<Nondestructive Image Processing>
  No matter how you modify the original images, Imaging WorkShop preserves the integrity of the original image files. It never changes a single pixel of the original image. Also, the history of adjustment or editing is recorded in a separate file (EGO File). This way, you can repeat adjustments without loosing quality.

Checking the Images
  For professionals or aficionados who handle a large volume of images, selecting the image is a very important task.

With Imaging WorkShop, you can browse and check many images at once. You can select images, check the image details like exposure, and filter the images with ease.

<Classifying the Images>
  In the browser, there are two options to select the images and classify them.

[Check] tags the images with a check mark. [Mark] tags the images with a color; red, yellow, green, or blue, depending on the purpose. Use them together or separately.

And for example, you can also select the yellow and red marked images only and eliminate the checked images. Moreover, you can display Exif information together with thumbnails.

<Comparing Images>
  [Preview] can enlarge an image to check details or display several images for comparing. Use the [magnifying glass] tool to check image details such as focus. You can also magnify two images to show the same area by using the [sync] options. This makes it easier to choose the best image from similar images.

Exif information can be displayed and you can set the check mark. It gives you a choice for classifying your work.

Image Correction Functions
  The image correction function is equipped with a variety of features, including image comparison, color/tone adjustment, distortion correction, and retouching tools.

<Color/Tone or Image Comparison>
  Imaging WorkShop lets you adjust the basic elements of images like brightness, brightness in bright areas, brightness in dark areas, contrast, black and white points, color balance, saturation, and sharpness.

You can also correct the hue for skin, sky, and greenery. Adjust exposure and white balance for RAW image files. Imaging WorkShop also has a monochrome effect, you can turn images into simple grayscale or make detailed settings for the channel mixer and color palette.

You can preview changes as you make adjustments. The image preview function lets you compare gradual changes in image adjustments across a histogram.

In Imaging WorkShop, aside from using the slider, you can use [Sample] mode to select a style. In [Sample] mode, major adjustments are made in the sample. The display type can be chosen from 9 samples (3 x 3), 25 Samples (5 x 5), or you can view it like pictures in a strip of film. You can print samples and select the best results from the print outs.

<Crop>
  Use [Cropping] to trim and rotate the image.

You can make adjustments to correct barrel distortion, pincushion distortion, or perspective. You can accurately correct distortions by aligning the transformation guide or guide grid with an area where the distortions are easy to identify, such as the line of a building.

<Retouch>
  [Retouch] offers a wide variety of tools for correcting images.

If you want to selectively lighten up parts of an image, remove dust or scratches from an image, or correct the red-eye phenomenon: use the retouch tool.

Use the [Healing] tool to correct shadows from dust and debris that have adhered to the camera CCD.

<Effects and Texts>
  Using [Effect], you can add special effects and textures.

Special effects such as [Colored Pencil] give an image a hand-drawn feeling, and textures such as [Canvas] are available.

You can also add a frame. With Text, you can add words onto the images.
